About Thoughtkind Press

Thoughtkind Press publishes practical psychology books for two groups of readers: the professionals who run mental health groups, and adults working through something hard on their own.

The author

Heba El Garhy is a behavioral health author and researcher with a background spanning biotechnology, clinical sciences and applied psychology. She is pursuing postgraduate studies in Psychology at Cairo University and holds professional diplomas in educational psychology, counseling and human development. Her clinical books turn established frameworks into tools a facilitator can use in a live session; her books for readers are written from both study and lived experience.

Thoughtkind Press is her independent publishing imprint. Books are sold through Amazon; free resources are offered on this site.

Editorial standards

Mental health information affects real decisions, so every clinical title follows the same process.

  1. Built on named sources. Each book cites the manuals, government publications and peer-reviewed sources its principles come from, such as Linehan's DBT Skills Training Manual, SAMHSA Treatment Improvement Protocols and Yalom and Leszcz on group psychotherapy. Each book's source list is printed inside it.
  2. Evidence-informed, not validated. Scripts, sessions and scenarios are original illustrations written to be consistent with those sources. They have not been tested as stand-alone interventions in clinical trials, and we say so in every book.
  3. Reviewed before publication. Clinical titles are read before release by practicing clinicians and supervised trainees. A reviewer is named on a book's page only with their written agreement, and affiliations are listed for identification only.
  4. Safety content is checked separately. Pages on suicide risk, intoxication, threats and medical emergencies are written to send the reader to their program's procedures and emergency services, never to replace them. In the US, these pages point to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
  5. Fictional cases only. All names, cases and dialogue are invented. No client information is used.
  6. No third-party worksheets. We do not reproduce other publishers' handouts. Source citations do not grant permission to copy cited materials.

Corrections

If you find an error, an outdated reference or a safety concern in any book or page, email hello@thoughtkindpress.com with the subject line "Correction". We review every report, reply, and fix confirmed errors in the next update of the book and on this site.

What these books are not

Thoughtkind Press books are educational and program-implementation resources. They are not a diagnostic tool, a crisis protocol, a substitute for treatment, or a replacement for clinical training, supervision and your program's policies. If you or someone you are with is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the US, call or text 988.
